Johannesburg - An alleged fraudster sought by South African police has been arrested by Interpol at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, local police said on Monday.
The 47-year-old man was expected to stand trial soon for fraud in the Southern Cape after he was caught on Saturday, Brigadier Sally de Beer said in a statement.
He was wanted in South Africa for four cases of fraud totalling R3m.
They allegedly were committed in the Knysna and George areas.
He fled the country to the United States 18 months ago, only to be arrested in Miami for possession of stolen goods.
He lived in a boat at the time.
After spending a year in prison, the US immigration and customs enforcement agency deported him to South Africa, where he was arrested.
